Healing Arts Communications is the Winner of Today’s Caregiver Magazine 2006 Caregiver Friendly Award for its DVD/Video; Caring for Someone with Mid to Late Stage Alzheimer’s Disease

Medford, Oregon, May 11, 2006

Today's Caregiver, the first national magazine for family and professional caregivers, and caregiver.com announced that Caring for Someone with Mid to Late Stage Alzheimer's Disease, a DVD/video production by Healing Arts Communications, is the 2006 Caregiver Friendly Award Winner (media category). The Caregiver Friendly Awards are designed to celebrate products, services, books and media created with the needs of caregivers in mind.

We are delighted to have our newest Alzheimer's Video recognized by Today's Caregiver Magazine. It's rewarding to know that a panel of judges found our program accomplished the mission of supporting caregivers, enriching their experience and helping them provide safe and compassionate care," says Marion Karpinski, R.N. President of Healing Arts Communications.

The challenges of caring for someone with mid to late stage Alzheimer's disease are unique. Healing Arts Communications developed the program because more and more caregivers need creative problem solving skills and useful techniques for dealing with difficult behaviors. We deliberately dealt head-on with tough situations: inappropriate sexual behaviors, intimacy, resistance to personal hygiene and inappropriate toileting habits. This program stresses the core principles that demonstrate honor and respect for those who suffer from this disease.

The Caregiver Friendly Awards will be presented at Today's Caregiver Magazine's Fearless Caregiver Conference to be held in Fort Lauderdale, Fl. May 23, 2006.

Healing Arts Communications and other Award winners will be profiled in the July/August issue of Today's Caregiver and on the magazine's website, www.caregiver.com.
"This award is designed to help family caregivers recognize and reward those organizations who will care for them in as committed a manner as they care for their loved ones," says Gary Barg, Today's Caregiver magazine's Editor-in-Chief.

Healing Arts Communications, a division of Health Care Training Systems Inc. http://www.homecarecompanion.com is nationally recognized as a leading provider of award winning curriculum, training and educational materials for family, volunteer and professional caregivers and educators.
