A mechanical lift may be recommended if
your family member cannot stand up independently or if weight makes it
too difficult to move him or her. This program will introduce you to
how a lift works.
Learn the correct lifting technique by watching an occupational
therapist demonstrate how to move a person from bed to wheelchair and
from wheelchair to bed. Both two-person and one-person transfers are
shown; safety measures at each step of the process are included.
The program also discusses how to address any fear your family member may have about being lifted.
