The training requirements for a companion providing services through a home health agency (Kansas only has one type of licensure for agencies providing home services) is dependent on the duties designated for the position. If the duties include any hands on services, the individual would need to be a certified home health aide.
If none of the duties are hands on, the qualifications/training for the position are whatever the agency designates in the job description. An exception to this is services (including hands on) provided by a personal care attendant through a Medicaid waiver program. The qualifications/training for a personal care attendant are whatever the agency designates in the job description.
